Expert Counseling for Free
There is a simple solution to every problem you have. If you went to the right expert and had the money to pay for counseling 24 hours a day for an unlimited time period, you would always know exactly what to do. The expert would analyze your problem as it developed and keep you continually advised. Of course, this type of help comes at an extraordinarily high cost; normally only heads of governments and the filthy rich (like Tiger Woods and Opra Winfrey) have the luxury of such advisors. Until now!
Your friend Davis woke up this morning with the solution to every problem that I have and every problem you have from now until the end of time.
Here's what to do:
You will need a way to record information fast. If you type and your natural mode of communication is writing, the computer is perfect. A tape recorder might work better for many people. Writing long hand is another possibility. You decide after I explain the process.
1. Identify the problem you want solved. If you knew a solution was available to every
problem you had, which problem would you handle first?
2. Identify the expert you would hire to provide the solution to your problem. This need only take a few moments. Two suggestions: Select someone you believe would be able to solve the problem, and select someone you can visualize.
3. Decide to do the following process:
A. Meet with your counselor on an on-going basis as long and often as necessary to solve your problem. (In many cases this may take only one or two meetings of five minutes or less. It's nice having the expert on-call, though, just in case something comes up later on.)
B. Make a transcript of your meetings, a written or taped record of each session. (This does not have to be a big deal. Just note what you asked the guru, and what he said! Every time I do this I am astounded how easy my problem was to solve! And it usually takes "the genius" just seconds to do it.
C. Decide to follow the advice of your expert, unless your conscious mind tells you it is dangerous to yourself or others (not likely).
D. Give yourself totally to the process, have fun, and expect positive results.
If you are new to this type of mental play, you may wish to select a fairly simple problem to tackle first. The good news is you have an unlimited supply of experts who can advise you on any problem imaginable. These counseling sessions may prove instantly or with a little practice to be the greatest blessing ever to come into your life.
Retrospect: I still like this idea ten years after I first wrote about it. I find that every time I face a problem directly and ask for a solution, I get it quickly. I suppose this will be the case with most people. The difficulty is doing the action “the answer” tells us to do. This just may be the difference between high achievers and not-so-high achievers. One group takes the action called for; the other group keeps searching for easier solutions.
